Information for New Members

What is a typical day’s walking like? Here’s an example

  • On Sundays we meet at the Lloyd’s Bank car park at Chester Business Park, CH4 9FB, where the walk leader will arrange shared cars to the start of the walk, with suggested contributions to the driver for fuel- currently 10p per mile.
  • If you are relatively new to walking we would urge you to start with a mainly pastoral C grade walk, and then progress up through the grades rather than find yourself on a walk that is beyond your capabilities.
  • Typically, an 8 mile/ 13kms C grade walk might begin at 10am from the walk start, with coffee/tea and lunch stops, finishing back at the cars for about 3.30pm and back at Lloyd’s Bank car park between 4pm and 4.30pm. Bring your own refreshments and lunch
  • Please see our walking programme page for further details about the walks, days available and grades.

What equipment will I need?

  • You will need to come prepared with suitable weatherproof warm/cool clothing and a pair of sturdy hiking boots (and a change of shoes in a bag to leave in the car), a warm hat/gloves or sunhat with suntan lotion, a packed lunch, a hot/cold drink, a folding mat to sit on, a basic first aid kit and a comfortable rucksack to put it all in.
  • Be sure to bring plenty of water, especially in hot weather and a torch in winter.

How do I join?

If all of this sounds appealing, you are very welcome to join us for a couple of our walks on a trial basis, by arrangement.
